Ayurveda, meaning the knowledge of long life,is one of the oldest medical sciences in the world.References to it date back more than 5000 years, with the keralan tradition passed from father to son through the generation of vaidyas or physicians.Ayurveda is a holistic approch, relatively free of any side effects.Through the use of different therapies, massages and treatments, effective programmes can be given for a wide variety of conditions. Panchakarma treatments are purification therapies, designed to restore balance in the three doshas, therebt boosting the immune system and rejuvenating the body and mind. Typically the process starts with a consulatation where your body type is diagnosed ( vata, pitta, kapha ) and any weakness in the body. After trhis a personalized programme is developed according to the patient`s need.
A key component of Ayurveda is the type of oil and herbal extracts used, often based on traditional family recipes. Each oil is made up of a careful balance of cooling and heating elements, with herbal extracts used for certain properties. For example, neem is often used in massage oils to aid the skin`s rejuvenation, reducing scars and damaged tissue. Each oil used in the Bio Veda centres are handmade inhouse, guaranteeing the quality. Before having a treatment or massage try to leave a gap of at least an hour after a large meal for a more comfortable experience.
